Photograph album belonging to Anne Margaret and Elizabeth Louisa Lang, compiled by their mother, Mary Varney Lang. Their father, Thomas Stackpole Lang, was the United State Commissioner at the Paris World Exposition of 1867, and the family moved from Augusta, Maine to the Willamette Valley in Oregon in 1875, moving to The Dalles, Or. a year later. The photograph album contains carte de visite portraits of members of the Lang, Varney, and Stackpole families, among many others, dating from circa 1859-1869. Subjects include Anne Margaret Lang; Elizabeth Louisa Lang; Thomas Stackpole Lang; Thomas' father, John Damon Lang; and Mary's mother, Margaret McClure Varney, among many others. Most of the photographs were taken by Maine photographers, including Asa Marsh Burnham and F. W. Hardy of Bangor, Me., among others.
